Women of Utah Comedy

In the latest move in a career built mostly on misogyny, former The Man Show co-host Adam Carolla recently received some attention for saying that women aren’t funny.

Local stand-up stalwart Melissa Merlot (pictured) and her Women of Utah Comedy colleagues are evidence to the contrary. Merlot’s act revolves around dating and drinking too much, as well as her telepathic breasts. It’s that last oddball item that separates Melissa from the single-girl-in-the-city stand-up pack: She isn’t ashamed to let her nerd flag fly. That said, her auto-correct drunk texting shtick is good, too.

Merlot will be joined by Tashia Mower and Emily J, a regional contestant in the Nick at Nite reality-show competition Search for the Funniest Mom in America a few years back. They’re all hilarious, no matter what Adam Carolla says. (Rob Tennant)
