Tinariwen: hard to pronounce, easy to like. The Tuareg-Berber musicians from the Sahara came together in a refugee camp and built a following while recording songs promoting the rights of nomadic people and distributing them for free on cassette tapes. Since then, the band has adopted new members, gained international recognition and collaborated with TV on the Radio, but the music is still pure, ancient and stirring. No-Nation Orchestra opens the show. (Katherin Nelson)
