This Front Range funk ensemble assembled its portmanteau name by combining two words that essentially sum up their soupy sounds: euphoria and orchestra. Eufórquestra, a seven-piece based in Fort Collins, Colo., by way of Iowa City, Iowa, plays a self-proclaimed brand of “Afro-Caribbean-barnyard-funk,” which is a nod to influences that range from Fela Kuti to King Tubby, and The Meters to The Talking Heads. To get a taste of the dance party, the band is giving away a download of their live album, Let Us In (released March 2012) for free—minus three tracks—on their website, Euforquestra.com.
