The black & white photo on the landing page of Broncho’s website shows the band bantering—or boasting—over old-school arcade games, the sort with simple “punch” and “kick” commands.
The photo couldn’t depict the band better. The four-piece offers up simple, nearly nostalgic, punk that has been known to make concert-goers go ballistic with arms punching the air and legs kicking the ground. But don’t get me wrong—it’s not screamo or crunchy distortion. Like a “special move,” the band blends surf-rock guitar power chords with easy-to-digest lyrics sung like mantras, as heard on the 2011 hit “Try Me Out Sometime.” Bad Weather California and Heavy Drags are also on the bill.
