Whistle Tips is pure indie-rock gold. One of my favorite albums of 2012 thus far, it captures the pop hooks of Real Estate and the melodic Gordian knot of Local Natives. Then there are touches of the disparate stylings of jazz and punk, which the quartet melds together with supreme grace, as heard at its best on the segued trilogy of “Certain Times,” “City Living” and “Beatcha.” Margot & the Nuclear So and So’s headline; Whispertown also plays.
