Kayte Terry: Paper Made

“Reduce, reuse, recycle” goes the mantra for green living—but it’s not always easy to come up with creative ways to work on the middle item on that list. Kayte Terry offers a lesson in wonderfully artistic “upcycling” in her how-to guide Paper Made!

A talented craft-fashioner whose ideas have appeared in national magazines and on HGTV, Terry provides the fundamentals in basic techniques like paper folding and papier-māché before offering 101 ideas for finding creative beauty in everything from junk mail and leftover raffle tickets to hardware-store paint chips and toilet-paper tubes. The results are both crafty and practical, showing you how to make a lampshade out of a worn-out deck of playing cards, or a bookshelf made out of actual books. Learn how the paper and cardboard products that litter your life can become something amazing—and get an up-close-and-personal lesson when Terry comes to town this week. (Scott Renshaw)
