Yevgeniy Zolotsev: Dance of Passion

The paintings of Russian artist Yevgeniy Zolotsev are full of passion—colorful depictions of dancers in motion. But they also partake of artistic traditions from the past century that infuse the canvases with excitement: cubism and Italian futurism. The compositions forcefully direct your eye to a focal point, like the hips of a dancing couple, the sun in the background emblazoning its impression onto the scene as though for that moment: The two embody the whole of nature.

Also showing in the gallery are artists who have been the focal point of exhibits there, including McGarren Flack, Grant Fuhst, Rick Graham and Brian Hoover. Zolotsev has exhibited on several occasions at Bountiful’s Summerfest, and had been shown in Germany and St. Petersburg, Russia, before he came to the United States in 1992. CDAG stands out among local art haunts as a place showcasing Eastern European artists. (Brian Staker)
