No, it’s the lazy days of summer, when the living is easy, and it’s time to listen to The Beach Boys, get outdoors to enjoy the weather and watch a sport with no clock that’s known as “America’s pastime.”
Summer may still be a few weeks—and maybe a couple of more snowstorms—away, but it’s already time to venture outside and enjoy baseball as the Salt Lake Bees play their home opener on Friday night against the Tucson Padres, with fireworks following the game. It’s the first night of an eight-game home stand for the Bees, the Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, running through April 20, with games continuing throughout the summer.
Enjoying the game is all the easier while taking in the beautiful views of the Wasatch Mountains available from the stands of Spring Mobile Ballpark. Reserve seats start at $12, or bring a blanket and pay just $8 to kick back on the grass berm surrounding the outfield and enjoy the sunset. Tickets can be even cheaper with passes for students, families and kids.
Utah winters can be beastly, and seemingly never-ending, but we are rewarded every April with the return of the sun and baseball. Take off the snow boots, kick back, and enjoy the sun and the game. (Geoff Griffin)
