With robotic precision and technical mastery of up to six decks, RJD2’s (Ramble John Krohn) onstage performance lands somewhere between a live experience and a dance set. The DJ/producer came into notoriety after landing the theme song to Mad Men (“A Beautiful Mine”) in 2007, but his specialty is mixing the sonic with the aural in concert via throwing down some funky-ass s—t and projecting a mashup of video clips on a massive screen, ranging from Bollywood to Aqua Teen Hunger Force with no corner of pop culture left unlooked at. While you can’t see the insanity of it, you can hear this excitable output on RJD2’s 2011 live disc, Live at the Rave, to prepare for the show.
