After Jennings gained notoriety with his legendary run, he penned the book Brainiac about the weird world of trivia. Now, he follows that with his tome Maphead: Charting the Wide, Weird World of Geography Wonks. The work takes an in-depth look into the people who can’t but help stare at a map and mentally explore the world presented therein. We’re talking a subculture in which geocaching and interstate road geeking become the norm to satisfy an insatiable appetite for understanding geography. Jennings also delves into the mysteries contained within the Library of Congress map room, where history comes alive through a wealth of historical maps—including George Washington’s hand-drawn cartography of Virginia.
