The Ting Tings

Sounds from Nowheresville, from U.K.-based pop duo The Ting Tings, is as much a compendium of Katie White and Jules de Martino’s eclectic musical eccentricities as it is a top-notch, matured sophomore release. The mixtape-esque 10 tracks nod to the band’s influences, such as the Beastie Boys, Pet Shop Boys, Depeche Mode, PJ Harvey and Fleetwood Mac. The chugging, synthy “Hang it Up,” with its talk-sing rapping, is the album’s first single, but other standouts like immediately catchy “Guggenheim,” the creaky, electro-dance track “Soul Killing” or made-for-radio poppy “Day to Day” also make for a fine entry point. In the Venue, 219 S. 600 West, 7 p.m., $20.50 in advance, $22 day of show
