The One True Follies: End of Days 2012

It’s an indicator of a uniquely peculiar community when an entire theatrical evening is devoted annually to skewering its peculiarities. It’s even more telling that many of the people being mocked might actually be in the audience, laughing right along.

For more than a decade, Park City residents have gathered at the Egyptian Theatre on Main Street for a chance to chuckle at the wonderfully weird people and events that, over the past year, have made the mountain town distinctive. Will the Winter That Never Was become part of the apocalyptic theme “End of Days 2012”? Which headlines, foibles and inside jokes will be spilled before the audience for its entertainment?

Said director Paul Tan in a press release, “Anyone and anything can become a joke at the Follies. … If you consider yourself a true Parkite, you must show up for a chance to laugh at yourself and your fellow community members. This is when we get to take ourselves a little less seriously.” (Scott Renshaw)
