Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros

When the jangly gypsy crew graced the Twilight Concert Series stage in summer 2011, it took all of two minutes before frontman Alex Ebert was jumping off the 5-foot-tall stage and bounding to the barricade to embrace the crowd. For Ebert and co-singer Jade Castrinos, who would later join the crowd with handholding and hugs, there’s no separation between them and the audience. It’s about connection—to everything. That’s exactly the sentiment Ebert expressed in a press release about the band’s forthcoming Up From Below follow-up, Here, to be released May 29. “Making this album has been a test of our faith in ourselves and in the universe, and brought us closer together and in greater harmony with one another,” he says. “A deluge of music has been written and recorded, and we are intensely excited to share it with anyone who wants to feel it.” Rocco DeLuca opens the show.
