Wiseguys Comedy: Rob Schneider

Perhaps the most well-known character Rob Schneider ever unleashed upon the American cultural landscape was his Saturday Night Live turn as the annoying guy who sat next to the copier and gave everyone in the office lame nicknames. Now, years later, instead of relying on that shtick, “The Robster,” “Robinator” or even “Robalobadingdong” has taken to the stage to be just Rob, stand-up comedian.

And although to many he will always be Deuce Bigalow the male gigolo—or even simply known as Adam Sandler’s smarmy movie sidekick—Schneider’s bent on growing up a bit and filling out his almost man-size shoes. In fact, his latest turn on television is simply named Rob and tells the antics, loosely based on his own experiences, of a man who navely marries into a tightly knit Mexican-American family. Even though he plays the sitcom for laughs, it’s far less gross-out than the projects for which he’s best known, and far more confessional than anticipated. (Jacob Stringer)
