On Monday, March 26, at 8PM at Mo's Neighborhood Grill in Salt Lake City, local poets will compete for a spot on the team that will represent Salt Lake City at the National Poetry Slam this August in Charlotte, NC. -- From September to February, local poets compete once a month at Mo's Neighborhood Grill (358 South West Temple) and accumulate points based on how well they do. The top ten poets from that season are then invited to the team selection finals held in March to compete for one of five open spots on the team. In 2011, Salt Lake City placed 8th out of 76 teams from around the United States and Canada. They hope to improve on that performance this August at the National Poetry Slam in Charlotte, NC. -- This event will open with a feature from Austin based nationally touring poets Danny Strack and Cupcake.
