CWMA Showcase: Pablo Blaqk, The Trappers, Bronco

A little rootsy Americana will kick off the City Weekly Music Awards showcases this year. Singer-songwriter-storyteller Pablo Blaqk will play the gems from his early 2011 release Sons & Daughters, the same songs he’s played when opening for the likes of John Legend or the Moody Blues. The Trappers are nothing if not distinct—be it in the different onstage personas of the five members or the rootsy brand of alt-country they play. Bronco’s second full-length, Painting Pictures of a Perfect Life, dropped in early 2011, and they toured the Pacific Northwest later in the year. They could easily be labeled as country, but the whiskey-soaked band has a bend that goes toward more rockin’ leanings at times—even covering a Pavement tune or two. Burt’s Tiki Lounge, 726 S. State, 9 p.m., $5
