The MENding Monologues

First-ever Westminster production will help raise funds for the SLC Rape Recovery Center As part of the effort to combat sexual violence, the student campaign of V-Day at Westminster College will present Derek Dujardin’s benefit production of The MENding Monologues. The first-time production will run the week following The Vagina Monologues on campus.

The MENding Monologues is an all male monologue production highlighting gender violence issues from male perspectives. Inspired by Eve Ensler’s production of The Vagina Monologues, Dujardin, a fellow writer, speaker, and performer, wanted to include the voice of men in the fight against sexual violence. His timing was perfect. Ensler and the V-Day organization had been searching for a way to include men in their cause to end violence and Dujardin’s monologues spoke with brilliance and meaning, humor and sadness, about the different ways that men are affected by violence against women. Through these new monologues, men and women alike are awed by the impact that violence has on everyone: the victims, families, loved ones, children and society as a whole.

General admission is $10. Tickets can be purchased at the Westminster Box Office the day of the performance or over the phone at (801) 832-2457. Proceeds from all V-Day at Westminster events, including The MENding Monologues , will benefit the Salt Lake City Rape Recovery Center, which provides counseling and educational services to victims of sexual violence and to the greater Salt Lake community.
