2012 CWMA DJ Spin-off Party at W Lounge

For the past two years, to kick off the City Weekly Music Awards, we’ve had Salt Lake City’s finest DJs--as voted by City Weekly readers--battle it out in an evening that left bass-lovin’, DJ-huggin’ W Lounge dancers spinning. This year, the DJ Spin-off will start things off again, but there were just too many quality soundsmiths for one night. Now, we will now have two DJ Spin-off events featuring 10, rather than five DJs. The first week at the W Lounge will see the 2011 CWMA DJ of the Year Flash & Flare returning to defend his title. Joining him in the first of two showcases will be DJ Elvis Freshly, DJ Illoom, ToM SRVO and Alastair. Week No. 2 will be over at The Hotel. The top vote-getter from both nights will be crowned the King of the Ones and Twos, which will be announced in the CWMA cover story of the February 16 issue. W Lounge, 358 S. West Temple, 9 p.m., $5
