The breathtaking sights, unique sounds and mouth-watering smells of Sicily abound in John Keahey’s newest travel narrative, Seeking Sicily: A Cultural Journey Through Myth and Reality in the Heart of the Mediterranean. Keahey’s cultural journey through this historic island will awaken your senses and capture your imagination.
Famous for its distinct identity and heritage, as well as its notorious mafia ties, Sicily is the Mediterranean’s largest, and most conquered, island. Follow Keahey as he travels through the landscape sharing photos, anecdotes and regional folklore. By incorporating the work of nineteenth and twentieth century Sicilian authors, most notably Leonardo Sciascia, Keahey easily captures the soul of the island’s inhabitants, uncovering their history, archeology, food, art and politics.
John Keahey is a veteran newspaper journalist who worked as a reporter and news editor for the Salt Lake Tribune from 1989 to 2011. Keahey spends as much time as he can exploring Italy. He has written two previous books for St. Martins Press/Thomas Dunne Books- Venice Against the Sea- A City Besieged (2002) and A Sweet and Glorious Land- Revisiting the Ionian Sea (2000).
