Egyptian Theatre Company’s A Christmas Carol

Dec. 18-31

Sure, you’ve seen a version or two of Charles Dickens’ classic, A Christmas Carol—but have you seen it live onstage? With a cast of more than 30 performers singing and dancing? On Park City’s Main Street in winter, all snowy and beautiful? That’s exactly the kind of family yuletide memory-making the Egyptian Theatre Company is offering, starting this weekend. Just thinking about it reforms my inner Scrooge a little.

The familiar elements are all there: miserly old man, didactic spirits, the archetypal sickly kid with a heart of gold and the father who loves him. In addition, this adaptation by Michael Wilson has original music by award-winning composer John Gromada. This is the show’s regional premiere.

If money’s tight this year—as it is for me—then there’s a special locals-only preview for half-price on Dec. 17. Get tickets for that one early—you know they’re going to go quickly.
