Robert Heinlein often said that there’s no such thing as a free lunch. Perhaps not, but there is such a thing as free breakfast. On Sunday, March 30, from 9 a.m. till noon, Sweet Tomatoes restaurants will give free breakfasts to kids 12 and under who bring a new item of children’s clothing (with tags attached) to a Sweet Tomatoes location. The clothing is being collected for donation to Kids in Distressed Situations (K.I.D.S.), which provides clothing and other items to approximately 4 million children in need. For more information, go to SweetTomatoes.com or KidsDonations.org

Sushi in strange places: Aloha Island Style Sushi—home of the Maui Wowie Stogie, Blow Torch Salmon and Surfer’s Revenge rolls—is now available at a number of local Maverik stores, including the Park City Maverik. Chef Billy Z. even makes that particular delivery himself, not via his beloved bamboo bike but by a new fleet of refrigerated delivery trucks. Orders over $100 are delivered free. By the way, says Billy Z., “We do weddings as long as we’re not the groom.” 336 W. 300 South, phone 801-DA-BEACH, AlohaIslandStyleSushi.com.

St. Paddy’s in Midway: The Blue Boar Inn & Restaurant will offer a special St. Patrick’s Day menu March 14-17 featuring traditional Irish fare including corned beef and cabbage, smoked salmon chowder, grilled leg of lamb, pheasant stew, Irish soda bread and shepherd’s pie. For dessert, there’s Guinness-chocolate cheesecake. Phone 888-650-1400 or visit TheBlueBoarInn.com

Quote of the week: Candy Corn is the only candy in the history of America that’s never been advertised. And there’s a reason. All of the candy corn that was ever made was made in 1911. —Lewis Black
