Corey Christiansen Organ Trio: “I am honored to be nominated for City Weekly’s Best Jazz Artist. There are so many great jazz musicians in Utah that I feel humbled to have been thought of for this nomination. I have spent 20 years developing my sound as a jazz guitarist, composer and recording artist and owe much of my progress and sound to the many truly great musicians I have been mentored by over the years. My current projects are dedicated to fusing the jazz language with the repertoire of American frontier folk music with socially relevant grooves and rhythms. My Utah heritage has played a large role in this fusion of jazz and folk music. While much of my performing career extends beyond the borders of Utah, I am proud to be live here and associate with the amazing musicians and scene that make the Utah music scene so vibrant and deep.
