Civilian review boards for police agencies give Joe Citizen an independent review of allegations of police misconduct. While the board can’t directly discipline sloppy cops or bruisers in cruisers, it can make recommendations to the chief. Business and Labor Interim Committee

In the legislative off-season, lawmakers will weigh the efficiency of Utah’s booze biz in different ways at this week’s meeting. Committee members will first evaluate the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control’s handling of a $300,000 loss from one of its packaging agencies. Then, liquor-license renewal fees for restaurants will be discussed, which, if hiked, could hurt local businesses.
