What should parents do to help kids prepare for the brave new world?
Rachel Scott: Teach them to think for themselves and not be mindless sheep! Jesse Fruhwirth: Teach them to garden, pickle, can and cook vegetarian. Imported produce and especially meat may become too expensive for middle-class people to eat as frequently as Americans do now.
Bryan Mannos: Kids are too soft these days. Exposing today’s children to extreme temperatures and tough semi-nutritious foods will better prepare them for eating shoe leather around the fire barrel.
Nick Clark: When did parents start preparing their kids for the world they created for them?
Scott Renshaw: The better question is, how can we properly brainwash them so they won’t kick our asses for blowing everything up on their dime?
Alissa Wells: Nothing. The zombie apocalypse will happen before we need to worry anymore about the environment.
Pete Saltas: Make sure the Xboxes land in the recycle bin instead of the regular trashcan.
Dan Nailen: 1. Teach them how to garden. 2. Teach them how to rob banks. Or just send them to law school.
Susan Kruithof: My 16 year old son hops the train with great frequency. I’m hoping that after he gets his driver’s license (if he does), he’ll continue to use the train whenever possible.
Wallace Greenwell: Build them an ark.
Austen Diamond: Etiquette school. The world may be crumbling around them, but at least tomorrow’s children can navigate a formal place setting with ease.
