up the local releases today, a couple hit the stores this weekend.
Starting things off with the Single release from j. wride. The band
hit it off well last year with the debut album Work Of Art, and have
gained a pretty good reputation out of Utah County. Why they're not
getting much airplay around town is a little bewildering. This week they're putting out a brand new single, "Let Me Go." Not really sure if they're just putting it on CD or if it's an actual 7", not much info to be had on that. The song features Miami hip-hop singer Mims for part of the track, making for an interesting combination. Catch the release show tonight at Velour with Jennifer Blosil and Cody Taylor in support.
Then tomorrow night head down to 5 Monkeys to catch the release show for Git Back Entertainment's newest compilation album, Another Reason. For those of you who don't know Git Back, they're a localized hub for several hip-hop artists who, while they may not have a full album out, are learning the craft and honing their skills. GBE usually puts out a compilation every couple of years, with the last one called Bottom Of The Ninth doing very well back in '07. This Saturday you can see several of the artists on board this album switching off and doing what they do best, all for just $5.
In prep for tonight's release, here's the single from j. wride, comprised of live videos from their performances at Velour and Muse Music. Head out, love music, buy local.
