Hello indoor party and award festival celebrating enthusiasts. Let's kick this post off with another gander at the Model Citizen Memorial Wall.

--- Speaking of stuff in the downtown area, I came across this taped to a few light posts around the city. A lengthy “Missing” flyer from a young woman who had her purse stolen of a UTA bus. While very ridiculous looking to post a three page letter across several blocks, if you're walking about I suggest you give it a read. And if you're the douchebag who stole the purse... what the hell, man?! You're that desperate, huh?

So last week was the week to celebrate good times. First off was SLUG's 21st birthday bash over at Urban. Good times with a smoke bubble machine and tinsel everywhere, not to mention Mammoth and Muscle Hawk tearing up the place. If you weren't there, sorry, all you get are pictures from the night.

And that goes double for the CWMA's finals over at The Depot. Watching Bird Eater perform was amazing, and watching them rip the place a third one wasn't that bad either. Naked Eyes were definitely the favorite, (and incidentally, Jamie, I TOLD YOU! Who called it? I called it! Damn skippy Jamster!) and took home the prize at the evening. But I must say I enjoyed watching Paul Jacobson & The Madison Arm work their magic and brought the local end of the evening to a fantastic close. And you can find pictures of all three bands performing over here.

Moving onto other matters at hand, there's a big call out to all the writers in the audience. A new Zine is on the horizon, and its name is Black Creep. The bi-annual project (started up by Rebecca Vernon of Subrosa and SLUG fame) is currently taking submissions for all forms of dark literature. The idea is to produce a strong body of works revolving around a number of topics and beyond, including from the description list: apocalyptic doom, revolution, the unseen world, space/time continuum disturbance, scientific ruminations, futuristic visions, political conspiracies, ESP, monsters, robots, rockets, aliens, cave dwellers, altered states, video games, planetary travel, social commentary, mysteries, personal difficulty and metamorphosis. Just to name a few. If you got something on the mind, head over to the MySpace page and submit your finest creations.

As for the blog, coming up the next few weeks we go back out for more local show coverage, check out a recent change of ownership in fashion, look over more graff art, check out a new theatre debut, look over some comics and also check out what's coming for St. Patrick's Day. Though to be honest, who really knows these days now, especially after this month has been completely hectic. As always, we'll see what happens.
