Posted // 2009-11-20 - Aside
from the awesome release show earlier this week at Slowtrain with The
Platte, last week was a bit off for local music being put out. Now
we're back on track this week with two new CD's on different days.
Kicking it off this weekend, as mentioned in this week's issue, will
be Big Sky Tribunal! The debut LP from Brian Oakley's new band
sparked interest across the board, and if the tracks on their page
are any indication of what's to come, the album is shaping up to be
in contention for one of the year's best. Playing along side them
tonight at Urban Lounge will be Giant and Vile Blue Shades, with word
out of a $5 cover, or $10 gets you in with a copy of the album. Show
kick off at 10PM.
And tomorrow night if you're more in the
mood for a bit of the piano rock, head on down to Muse Music where
Provo based The Question will be putting out their debut album. Not a
lot to report on this one beyond the band's very obscure page, but
the tracks show strong potential and do make you want to see what
else they have to offer. Backing them up tonight will be One Lump Sum
and Viewers Like You. Show kicks off at 8PM for just $5.
Head
out, love music, buy local.
