The Utah Jazz’s “Commissioner” Gordon Hayward isn’t lacking for activities to while away the time during the NBA offseason/lockout. It was announced this week that Hayward will be the spokesman for the IGN eSports IPL 3: Origins competition in Atlantic City from Oct. 6-9, and will be competing in the StarCraft II tournament.
To promote Hayward’s involvement in the acronym-laden event, a video (embedded below) was created in the style of LeBron James’ “Decision,” though it’s less a parody than a word-for-word reenactment. Hopefully, LeBron James has a sense of humor, or Hayward just fired the first shot in the next big NBA feud. It’s about to get real, folks: The face-off between these two NBA powerhouses during future Heat-Jazz matchups will be INTENSE.
Just kidding. Also, why did Hayward revert to his missionary cut? Shaggy-haired Hayward was much better; plus, real gamers don’t have time to leave the house to get their hair cut. Amateur StarCraft player indeed.
Here's Hayward's response to the question "How do you explain this to the people in Utah?":
"It’s heartfelt for me, it’s hard to explain … that one year I gave to the franchise, to the city, it was everything. … They’ve seen me grow over the last year, and I never wanted to leave Utah, and my heart will always be around that area. But I also felt like this was the greatest challenge for me, to move on. I feel it’s the next step."
