R.I.P. Utah musician/artist Bob Moss

Sad news in Utah's art world today as news hit that Bob Moss died over the weekend in his sleep.

KRCL's Bad Brad Wheeler put the word out via Facebook and Twitter to many of Moss's friends and fans. A folk artist with a distinct vision and style, Moss found inspiration in virtually everything he set his eyes on, from Utah-centric inspirations like Gilgal Gardens to b-movies and, musically speaking, everything from Sinatra to the Beatles found new life through his banjo.

City Weekly has followed many of Moss's creative twists and turns through the years, always finding the man a captivating creative force. You can read a bit about his visual art here, and here's a story about his music and "The Cult of Bob," penned by Randy Harward.

And here is a video shot by my buddy Greg Thilmont, when Moss visited us at a U of U football game, banjo in hand:

Not a day has or will pass when I do not somehow think of or feel the spirit of Bob Moss; the best friend I ever had. You changed the world forever Bob - and your influence will continue to grow eternally.

You were a brother to me. You cared about everyone. Did you know we cared about you? I hope you did. Very Sad, Very Sad. Love Forever, Sue
