Lounge Act Thursday: Bow at the feet of the indie-rock godfather

As a general rule, when Thurston Moore comes to town, whether playing solo or with Sonic Youth, that's where you want to be.

That's certainly the case on Thursday, when Moore headlines the Twilight Concert Series show at Pioneer Park, where he'll no doubt be playing plenty of tunes from his new, Beck-produced album, and hopefully a few Sonic Youth numbers, too. Joining Moore is rising start Kurt Vile (pictured) and his band the Violators. Vile is on the road supporting his excellent album Smoke Ring for My Halo; you can read our interview with Kurt Vile, then get to the park by 7 p.m. to catch him.

A post-Twilight option for roots-music fans is going down at The State Room, where the excellent Kansas City bluegrass outfit The Wilders are playing along with the David Mayfield Parade.

At the Gallivan Center, Slightly Stoopid will be delivering its jammy, Sublime-style summer rock, along with openers Rebelution and Schwayze with Cisco Adler.

A musical option for all tastes--you really have no excuse for not leaving the house tonight.
