Lounge Act Thursday: Cake, Crucial Fest and Okkervil River

You gotta love a night that offers as many possibilities as Thursday does for the musically inclined.

The top of the heap for this guy is the Okkervil River (pictured) and Titus Andronicus double-bill at The Urban Lounge. Okkervil River is touring in support of their excellent new disc I Am Very Far, while New Jersey's Titus Andronicus are simply a touring machine, laying waste to venues across the country with tunes from their well-received 2010 set, The Monitor.

Up at Red Butte Garden, Cake brings their quirky pop-rock to town a year after selling out the Utah Arts Festival's Summer Solstice Concert, and it's sure to be a different crowd than the typical Red Butte gang for this gig.

The Depot plays host to reggae legends Steel Pulse, who have been together doing revolutionary reggae for more than 35 years.

The hard-hitting Crucial Fest is going down all over town through the weekend, including shosw tonight at Kilby Court and Club Vegas. Read all about it here, and check out the Gavin's Underground interview with the festival's founder here.
