Every year the Utah Museum of Natural History presents a lecture exploring "The Nature of Things," and Wednesday night they'll tackle the theme of "reinventing energy." Tough subject to tackle in a couple hours.---

If there's a guy capable of breaking it down that succinctly, chances are it's Fred Krupp, president of the Environmental Defense Fund, who will be delivering the "The Nature of Things" keynote speech at 7 p.m. at Kingsbury Hall. Krupp will "discuss new and innovative tactics of producing, consuming and reinvigorating our energy infrastructure—like inventive ways of utilizing the newest in bio and nano technologies."

Elsewhere around town Wednesday, there's a little something for everybody. The original Geeks Who Drink gets started at 7 p.m. at Piper Down. The And...Go! Comedy Improv group recently won a "battle of the improvs," and they'll be taking over the Murray Theater Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

The Green Pig Pub is the place to be for Happy Hour, as KRCL and the Downtown Alliance throw another KRCL Night Out at 5:30 p.m. Cheap drinks and grub and some fine folks to chat with always make these fun throw-downs, and Truman from the Red, White and Blues show will be providing the tunes. Find the City Weekly street team and you could win $25 to use at the Green Pig.

Finally, the ongoing Women's Voices Festival delves into the visual arts with a lecture at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts at 7 p.m. by Cheryl Hughes. Hughes holds master's degrees in art history and English and has served in various capacities in developing curricula for the AP Art History. Her article, "Judy Chicago's Dinner Party: Inviting Women to the Table," appeared in the 2007-8 publication of Special Focus: Art of the Twentieth Century.
