Lounge Act Monday: Killing off February

It's a pretty mellow Monday, but the end of February is a good reason to find a way to celebrate. We have some options for ya.---

Let's start with The Octopus Project (pictured), headlining two shows on Monday. The first is at Kilby Court, where they'll be joined by Birthquake, and later they'll stop at The Urban Lounge, again joined by Birthquake, and also Palace of Buddies. Both gigs should be full of groovy indie dance music—you just have to choose how late an evening you want.

Over at Bar Deluxe, the Samuel Smith Band, Aloud and Holy Water Buffalo are hosting a throwdown, while Club Vegas hosts Malevolent Creation along with Full Blown Chaos, The Absence, Cave of Roses and Havok.

For the more classically inclined, Libby Gardner Hall at the U of U has the Utah Chamber Artists performing a show called Mozart & Beethoven: The Long and Short of It at 7:30 p.m.

This is also the last week to catch In at Pioneer Memorial Theater, and Mondays are always a good day for getting a decent seat.
