Some of us have been waiting since last fall for Justin Townes Earle to play Salt Lake City again. After a bar fight and a stint in rehab, the Son 'o Steve arrives Thursday.
Earle is touring in support of his excellent 2010 album, Harlem River Blues, and while tonight's show at The State Room is sold out, you might want to peruse scalper-friendly Web sites like Craig's List or hang around the front of the venue later on to see if you get lucky. And trust me, once you see the lanky honky-tonker in person, you'll FEEL lucky. Follow this link for more info and to watch a Justin Townes Earle video.
Over at Kilby Court, alt-rock youngsters Young the Giant are the headliners, but it's also a chance to see Fictionist, the Provo crew who is among the final 16 bands being considered to land the cover of Rolling Stone magazine in August and play Bonnaroo, as well as land a contract with Atlantic Records. You can read our report from yesterday on Fictionist's potential huge score right here, and learn how to vote for the band as well.
And if banging dance/rock music is more your thing, the show at In the Venue featuring Brit buzz-band Pendulum and Innerpartysystem is worth a look for sure.
