Roller Derby: Treasure Valley Rolls Over WRD 126-121

Posted // 2010-03-01 - Saturday, Feb. 27: Salt Lake City’s Wasatch Roller Derby league took on Boise, Idaho’s Treasure Valley Roller Girls at the Salt Palace in downtown SLC. The home-track advantage, however, didn’t help the WRD …

Wasatch led the bout for the first half and most of the second, thanks to several scoring jams by the ever-quicker Queen’s Anne’s Revenge and Honey DeLunatic, as well as some brutal defense. WRD led at the half, 59-41, over TVRG.

Treasure Valley played a wildly uneven game, looking like first-night amateurs at some points, seasoned pros the next. The latter took over in the homestretch, when TVRG rallied to tie the score every time the by-then-spent WRD pulled ahead. At the final buzzer (had there been an actual buzzer), Treasure Valley came out on top, 126-121, over Wasatch.

The article doesn't do it justice.. that was one of the best roller derby bouts I've ever seen in person. Back and forth down to the last jam. I only wish I could *really* have watched it instead of tracking the penalties (of which, there were surprisingly few). Great job, girls! I hope you had as much fun as we did! Looking forward to you coming here!
