Anti-Pension Fever!

These days, it's fashionable to attack public-sector labor unions -- apparently, because government workers are the only ones who have decent retirement programs anymore.---

It's all part of the new, nationwide push against state pensions. Because, now that the rest of us have been forced into dodgy, free-market deals that will likely send hordes of 70-year-old Gen-X private-sector workers begging on the streets in a few decades, why should anybody else have any retirement security?

According to Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin,

We can no longer live in a society where the public employees are the haves and taxpayers who foot the bills are the have-nots. ... The bottom line is that we are going to look at every legal means we have to try to put that balance more on the side of taxpayers.

How about putting that balance more on the side of workers, Mr. Governor? There was a time when all of us were "the haves." Secure pensions were a matter of course. Instead of seeking to balance the playing field by depriving state workers of their fairly earned pensions, why not try figuring out a way to win back the pensions of private-sector workers? Sounds like a win-win to me.

Instead, in the New World Order, we're all expected to work until we drop down dead -- preferably at the end of a shift so that our deaths don't cause any scheduling problems.
