Three new doctors have bee added to City Weekly’s doctor discipline database, including Nicola Riley, the doctor who is still under investigation in Maryland for a botched abortion procedure.
According to the Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing’s latest discipline newsletter, three new doctors have been disciplined by the division, while another, Stephen Kitson, had his licenses reinstated with full privileges on Aug.1. Kitson had previously had his license to practice in Utah revoked in 1997.
Nicola Riley was given a public reprimand for failure to provide DOPL with accurate information about her criminal record. She has also been prohibited from performin any abortions in Utah, until a Maryland investigation into a "botched" abortion procedure she did in that state is completed. Riley is also required to pay a $10,000 fine and submit an essay to DOPL.
Craig Jensen, a Salt Lake City doctor, had his license to practice and administer controlled substances revoked for use of “intoxicants, drugs, narcotics, or similar chemicals” that could affected his safe treatment of patients.
William Shuler, a Florida doctor, also received a public reprimand for issuing prescriptions to Utah residents during a brief period in 2010 when his license had expired.
