Banksy Strikes SLC?

by Eric Peterson
- Posted // 2010-01-21 -

Word is out that Britain’s guerrilla graffiti artist, the renowned Banksy, may have struck Utah. The Trib reported that a spray paint mural of the artist’s caliber appeared Tuesday morning on the wall of a coffee shop in Park City. Recently another tag(pictured) has shown up on the back wall of downtown’s dead Zephyr club at 300 S. West Temple.

The pictures haven’t been confirmed as Banksy’s although it’s probably no coincidence that a documentary of the artist’s works called Exit Through the Gift Shop, is expected to be featured at this year’s festival, as a surprise spotlight.

If it’s not the work of Banksy, then the artist responsible should be proud. Your work is the most love the Zephyr has seen in ages.

It most likely is him. They just announced the inclusion of a documentary about him in which he turns the tables on the folks trying to film his work/life. That dude (or dudette) is so clever

If it is Banksy's work, this is fucking awesome. If it's a different artist cribbing Banksy's style, it ain't so cool anymore.
