Utah has in the works a plan to allow the Southern Nevada Water Authority to pump out 36,000 acres of water per year from Utah’s Snake Valley on over to Las Vegas. The plan, critics say, will devastate the area’s ranching, impact snowfall and perhaps turn the west desert area into a dust bowl.
Utah water gurus are taking public comments about the propose deal, up until Sept. 30th. While the scheduled public meetings ended in August, the Utah Association of Counties and the Great Basin Water Network peeps are putting on a citizens hearing where you can come give your opinion on this deal anyway.
