The Sugar House Streetcar debate is back on track, as the Salt Lake City Council will be tackling the controversial Sugar House Transportation Plan at tonight's meeting. But it's not the only interesting issue of municipal business on the agenda, as the council will also consider an ordinance capping the number of off-street-parking spaces allowed in the city.---

The Sugar House Streetcar discussion will start at the Salt Lake City Council work meeting, which begins at 4 p.m., though the Sugar House Transportation plan is scheduled for discussion at 5:45 p.m., where council members will consider proposals to close the right-turn lane south of Monument Plaza, changing traffic lanes on Highland Drive from four lanes to two lanes, adding bicycles lanes on parts of 2100 South and other proposed changes. The council will then hear public comment on the proposal at the formal meeting that begins at 7 p.m.

At the public meeting, the council may also take action on an ordinance change proposed by District 7 councilman Soren Simonsen to encourage sustainable transportation by doing such things as capping the number of allowed off-street-parking spaces and expanding regulations for bicycle parking, location and design.

Show up tonight and speak out or speak up on any proposed changes at the Salt Lake City & County Building, 451 S. State; work meeting begins at 4 p.m., formal meeting with public comment begins at 7 p.m. Click here for the full agenda.
