2013 Twilight Concert Series Announced

by Austen Diamond
- Posted // 2013-05-08 - The Twilight Concert Series has been announced and the news is: same venue, same admission price, a two-day "festival" and an overall better lineup.

The Salt Lake City Arts Council announced the lineup for the 2013 Twilight Concert Series today, a followup to the series’ 25th anniversary that will please fans of many genres, from indie-rock to R&B.

In 2012, the once-free concert series began charging a $5 admission fee (read a point/counterpoint on it here) to maintain the high level of performers and to make the concert experience more enjoyable and manageable -- in 2011, concerts drew an average of 33,000 people at each show; in 2012, the series averaged 16,000 people per concert, according to a press release. Sometimes, the shows were great; other times, they were a mess. Here's hoping this year will be the best at Pioneer Park.

The Twilight Concert Series shows will be held on Thursday evenings in July and August, with gates opening at 5 and shows starting at 7 p.m.

Advanced season ticket sales for the 2013 Twilight Concert Series begin today at noon. Season tickets are sold at They are $35 for the nine concerts; pre-sale individual tickets can be bought for $5 at beginning June 1 or at Graywhale Entertainment for $5 up to 5 p.m. the day of the show. You can also buy tickets at the gate for $5, cash only.

So, here’s the lineup:

Erykah Badu. . that's the only thing that matters (and okay Grizzly Bear)!  Great lead into Outside Lands fest (D:ANGELO Y'ALL) SLC will get some SOUL afterall!  Given the EXTREMELY SAFE ad nauseum Red Butte concert drearies.

hooray Mr. Jarman hooray

so coupled with the Bob Dylan bash we get like 3 fya shows. . . i'll take it!

Perhaps manageable crowd control by limiting the amount of tickets to be sold that matches park's capacity?

Fee or no fee, enjoyment level plummets if too many tickets are sold.

I thought MGMT was 5 Sep and 12 Sep was TBD per their tweet. Is this the correct lineup?

Posted // May 8,2013 at 11:41 - There is not a concert on Sept. 12. TCS is hosting the usual nine shows, but in eight weeks--see the back-to-back days on Aug. 7 & 8 above.
