Stream Joshua James' new album before it's released

by Austen Diamond
- Posted // 2012-11-05 - The mystically inclined crooner from American Fork, Joshua James, releases From the Top of Willamette Mountain on Tuesday, Nov. 6. But you can hear it here now.

The Richard Swift-produced record offers up a bit more crunch, twang and rock than James has previously exhibited, which mainly comes in on the opening tracks. The hallmarks of the songwriter’s oeuvre are still there, though: a rough, yet velvety, singing of lyrics informed by a seeker’s search for the truth -- a fall to and from a higher power -- and all grounded by love. James’ ability to turn a phrase and surprise, while also leaving you something to chew on for a while after listening, serve him well on this Northplatte Records release (he is the label co-owner). The 11 tracks offer up a thematic, timely and sonically varied album, one well worth the three-year wait since his acclaimed Build Me This.

Stream it at AOL/Spinner Full Listening Party.

The CD-release party will be held on two nights at Velour Live Music Gallery in Provo, on Nov. 28 and 29.
