TV Tonight: Saving Hope, Take Me Out, The Choice

by Bill Frost
- Posted // 2012-06-07 - What’s new on the genius rectangle tonight:

Saving Hope (NBC) Series Debut: It’s a medical drama! It’s a supernatural tearjerker! It’s not to be confused with Raising Hope, Hope Floats or actual entertainment. Stargate SG-1’s Michael Shanks stars as a surgeon who falls into a coma and then floats/haunts around his own hospital like a ghost or a former SG-1 star. Can his surgeon wife (Smallville’s Erica Durance) save him? Or this show? Ask A Gifted Man.

Take Me Out (Fox) Series Debut: Welcome to Fox’s Summer of Suck, which is not too far removed from The CW’s Just Try and Watch This Summer. Take Me Out is a reality-dating skankfest hosted by George Lopez, and the only thing that sets it apart from several dozen equally idiotic MTV reality-dating shows is the presence of the guy Conan O’Brien put out of a job. So … enjoy?

The Choice (Fox) Series Debut: It’s like The Voice, minus even the pretense of talent. Case in point: The biggest celebrity bachelor Fox could get to judge women is Jersey Shore’s Pauly D—sorry, DJ Pauly D. Again … enjoy?

Also new tonight:
Duets, Rookie Blue (ABC); Rock Center With Brian Williams (NBC); Breaking Pointe (The CW); Don’t Be Tardy for the Wedding, Kathy (Bravo); Men at Work (TBS); The First 48, Cajun Justice (A&E); Punk’d, The Pauly D Project, Ridiculousness (MTV); Rock Docs: Yo! MTV Raps (VH1); Eagleheart (Adult Swim)
