Records Detail Cottonwood Heights Police "Performance Standard"

by Stephen Dark
Posted // 2013-10-03 -

Cottonwood Heights is proud of its efforts to get impaired drivers off the streets. Compared to the days when the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office patrolled the city, the DUI arrests, Mayor Kelvyn Cullimore says, have jumped from around 20-plus annually, on average, to between 240 and 300 each year.

The below documents—accessed through a records request City Weekly made to Cottonwood Heights in 2012—shed light on Cottonwood Heights Police Chief Robby Russo’s performance standard, his frustration over his officers not meeting it, and the traffic stats, including DUI arrests, before and after he sent an e-mail demanding officers conform to the standard.
