Dan Farr and Bryan Brandenburg -- the minds behind Salt Lake Comic-Con -- today announced big plans  for the the 2014 convention. Or conventions, plural. ---

Starting in 2014, Salt Lake Comic-Con will feature two events. The first, the Salt Lake Comic-Con Fan Experience, will be held April 17-19 and will occupy the majority of the Salt Palace Convention Center. It will focus on a wider array of fandom and has a number of guests already booked, including Norman Reedus and Chandler Riggs from The Walking Dead, Brent Spiner and Marina Sirtis from Star Trek: The Next Generation, and Adam Baldwin from Firefly and Chuck.

The second event will be the second annual Salt Lake Comic-Con, scheduled for Sept. 4-6, 2014.

Much of the focus of today's press conference at The Leonardo was the overwhelming success of the 2013 show, boasting it as the largest premiere comic-book convention in North America, with 75,000 people coming through the doors. Festival founder Dan Farr spoke at length of the importance of the economic impact the con had, and how that had not gone unnoticed in the governor's office. In fact, according to Farr, Gary Herbert personally picked up Stan Lee from the airport for the 2013 show. We can only hope that Stan Lee taught the governor a thing or two about power and responsibility.
