Lovely. You just summed up why I threw in the towel on pick-up ball. But I believe you may have left off The Bully.
This is the guy who probably played some football, but has let himself go. His response to tight, clean defense is to lower his shoulder and level you. Level you with a bone-crushing hit that would cause Dennis Rodman and Ron Artest to take up Bridge or Backgammon. Even The Bully's own teammates think this aggression is way out of line. But they don't dare say anything out of fear of getting the same treatment.
As you're helped off the floor by your teamates and often his, The Bully then lights you up. Shouting a littany of swearwords between explaining aloud to his audience that, as a player, you need to work on your footwork. They win continuously, despite the bully only making it down the floor to play defense every third trip.
The Bully. Respect him or else.
