On Friday evenings in September, Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar is hosting a wine tasting/competition called Bottle Wars, in which guests can taste rival wines from the new Fleming's 100 -- their 100 wines by-the-glass.
Each Bottle Wars event will feature a different theme, with 8 to 10 wines in competition. Guests can choose one, or take in the whole series for $25 per person, and decide on their favorites.
For this week, Sept. 14, the Bottle Wars theme is "Battle of the Hemispheres," in which wines from the Northern and Southern hemispheres will go toe-to-toe. Competing wines include Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc vs. Hanna Sauvignon Blanc; Indaba Chardonnay vs. Women of the Vine Chardonnay; Yalumba GSM The Strapper vs. The Prisoner; Esk Valley Merlot Blend vs. The Dreaming Tree Crush Merlot Blend; and Veramonte Primus Cabernet Sauvignon vs. Educated Guess Cabernet Sauvignon.
Upcoming Bottle Wars are "Old World vs. New World" on Sept. 21, and "Glass Warfare" Blind Tasting on Sept. 28.
This sounds like a really fun way to get together with wine-geeky friends, taste some interesting wines and compare notes.
