One of my favorite American wineries is Sonoma's Cline Cellars. They produce a wide range of excellent wines, and if you ever have the opportunity to visit the winery and California Missions Museum at Cline, you certainly should. But, if you can't make it to Sonoma, no worries -- Cline is coming to Salt Lake City.
First, on Aug. 28, Bambara will host Charlie Cline for its monthly Sip & Savor Soiree. From 5:30 to 7 p.m. in The Vault at Bambara, four Cline selections will be featured, along with small-plates food pairings.
Executive chef Nathan Powers will prepare small-plate pairings specifically geared to the flavor profile of each wine. Charlie Cline will present Cline Cellars' Mourvedre Rose Contra Costa 2011; Ancient Vine Mouvedre Contra Costa 2010; Syrah Carneros 2009; and Live Oak Zinfandel Contra Costa 2010.
The cost for the Bambara Sip & Savor Soiree is $5 for the small plates and $15 for the optional wine pairings, per person. Seating is limited and reservations are required. Call 801-363-5454 to reserve your spot.
Then, on Aug. 30, beginning at 6 p.m., Faustina will host a four-course wine-pairing dinner featuring Cline Cellars, with Charlie Cline in attendance. The dishes that executive chef Billy Sotelo has on tap are as follows, along with the Cline wine pairings:
Course 1: House-cured salmon, micro tatsoi, potato cake, caviar, creme fraiche, with Cline Viognier
Course 2: Miso-roasted black cod, carrots and pea tendrils, pho, with Cline Mourvedre Rose
Course 3: Pleasant Creek hanger steak, thyme-infused gnocchi, roasted Utah corn, lightly smoked tomato demi sauce, with Cline Live Oak Zinfandel
Course 4: Frozen date cake with Late Harvest Mourvedre
The cost for the Faustina dinner is $40 per person and the optional wine flights are an additional $20. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 801-746-4441.
