Posted // 2012-01-26 - In 2010, chef Jonas Otsuji competed in a chef competition put on by the Asian Chamber of Commerce and won. It was that experience which inspired him to create Chef War.
Chef War periodically hosts public cooking competitions featuring Utah restaurant chefs. The next Chef War will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 31, from 6:30 to 9 p.m..
Chef Roberto Denni of Cucina Toscana will face off against chef Tom Call of Fresco Italian Cafe to create three dishes apiece incorporating a single theme ingredient. The theme for this Chef War is bacon -- it's a bacon battle! Or, more accurately, pancetta -- each chef will make use of pancetta in his three, unique, culinary creations. A panel of five culinary guest judges will evaluate and vote on the dishes.
Chef War is open to the public and tickets are $39 per person, which includes a small tasting of each of the six dishes created by the chefs.
The location of this Chef War is Ferguson, 2565 S. 300 West, Salt Lake City.

Well this is odd. As unique as this idea is, I saw something similar on Sesame Street! It was called Cast Iron Cook, hosted by Jason Schwartzman, and the participants had to cook up some "P" stew, in which all ingredients used had to start with the letter "P". Good times, good times.
But $39 for a taste?! Holy Bacon! Do I get a handjob with that small tasting? Where does the money go? Toward the pancetta fund? A car payment? New kitchen clogs?
Shoot. You wanna see some bacon? Save yourself the $39 ducets and look up Epic Meal Time on You Tube. Go on, I fukin dare ya.
