Posted // 2011-10-06 - If, like me, you're overrun with late-season veggies from the garden, you might need to get the 411 on canning and preserving them. Sherri Brooks Vinton, author of Put 'em Up, is here to help. The Downtown Farmers Market and Edible Wasatch magazine welcome canning and food-preservation expert Sherri Brooks Vinton for three days of canning events this weekend, just in time to catch the last of the summer harvest.
The event schedule is at follows:
Sat., 10/8
(10 a.m., 11 a.m. and noon):
Downtown Farmers Market – “Pickling 101." Sherri will demonstrate a pickling
recipe in three sessions, at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., and noon. Participation is free.
Sun. 10/9 (7-9 p.m.): The Garage on Beck Street – “Jar Swap and Book Signing." Mingle with fellow canners and sip a custom cocktail from High West Distillery designed especially for the event. Bring a jar of your own to swap and receive a discount on dinner. This event is free and open to the public 21 and older.
